Real does not exist.
"I believe" she said, looking straight into his eyes, wtih a great conviction, knowing not only that he understands, but that he believes as well.
"I always have, and I think I am not the only one who does.... Look around us, movies, games, everybody craves for magic and fantastic, everybody seeks to escape..."
He took a sip of coffee and looked outside the window. Then he said with a low voice: "We must be sick of certainties... now all that's left for us to reach is meaningless, because we know the outcome all too well. But do you remember, can you still remember Merlin's story, whose outcome was that magic was forgotten by lack of belief. I know you do believe, I can escape with you when I see children's movies and read children's stories, who are not for children at all, for they are allowed to believe".
He looked at her lovingly and have her a short kiss. She smiled, and took a sip of coffee too, from the same cup. They shared everything, from coffee to dreams. She could have went on talking, for stories and magic were part of their life and there was much to talk about. But it was late, and she preffered to tell the truths to herself. She knew all too well that, just like the coffee, they were sharing the same thoughts too, now.
As a couple, they were not very sociable because they shared a different world than most men. At 30, if you believe in stories, you are at least considered bizzare. So they kept this for themselves, and it was enough. At home, they had many doors to other world, through games, movies, books, but most of all, dreams. Their house was like a wodden cottage, a piece of antic design into a common block of flats. Many shelves pinned to the walls covered old books, an extensive collection of games and a small gathering of art, usually inspired by the same magic worlds they believed in. Everything inspired something different than usual and many considered them excentric, for good reason. But they knew better, that sometimes the fantastic lies much nearer than one would normally look. And this night, once again, they had the same debate about magic that they had for years, confirming once again the true belief in a power within them, a great power to go beyond what the dull life of today promotes.
"I have always expected something extraordinary to happen to me" he mumbled.
She however, knoew that the extraordinary he was talking about already happened.
